Entrepreneur Magazine announced in their June issue, The companies on our annual Hot 100 list of Americas fastest-growing new entrepreneurial companies are proof that nice guys do finish first. The magazine named United Source One, an exporter of food products to the Middle East, as the fourth fastest growing new business in America. Michael Imgarten, founder and owner, started the company in October of 2000 with $250K of savings and personal funds. Dunn & Bradstreet reports United Source Ones 2003 sales revenues at $45M.At a time when each days headlines seem to bring new corporate scandal to light, the magazine reports, its heartening to know that being good guys has paid off for our Hot 100 companies. We were impressed by the number of entrepreneurs in this years listing who credit their success to their employees and spoke passionately about the importance of treating customers and staff well.Imgarten opened the doors to his company in December of 2000 with 16 employees. The company now employs 31 people. Imgarten said, This award means a lot. Its a tribute to all of our employees. They are the heart and soul of our company. We do everything possible to attract and keep the best employees. We work closely with our suppliers and service support companies to make a difficult and challenging process manageable.United Source One ships food products overseas by sea and air from the port of Baltimore to nine Middle East countries. The company focuses it efforts on the restaurant and food service sector. Its customer base includes exclusive food distributors servicing the high end of the market and American casual dining restaurants, like Chilis, TGI Fridays, Fuddruckers and others that operate in the Middle East. Customers of the company say, Attention to detail, availability and the care and concern their employees give is the key to United Source Ones success. Imgarten reported, We had some indication we might make the list this year, but we had no idea we would rank as high as we did. It came as a real surprise. We were really thrilled just to make the list. We are honored.
